Meet Our Staff

Mario & Diane Ruel are both kind, caring and wonderful people. Diane's main duties are cooking wonderful home cooked meals and house keeping. Mario's main duty is to provide guide services. Although they each have their own positions it is not uncommon to find them helping each other. Mario is a great bed maker and Diane can cut wood like no other! These two will make sure your stay is a 5 Star!

Dave Anderson is our kind and caring big brother. His duties include guiding but he is also very entertaining. He's always up for some good laughs. Dave is a joy to have at camp and we love having this time to spend with him.

Who founded Elusive Sasketchewan Whitetail Outfitting?

In 1990, passionate hunter Harvey McDonald created Elusive Saskatchewan Whitetail Outfitting to help others immerse themselves in the unparalleled excitement of whitetail deer hunting in Saskatchewan, Canada. He wanted to offer an organized experience that provided expert guidance paired with a stunning natural landscape.

Now recognized as a preferred outfitter by the North American Hunting Association, his 27 years with the company helped him become known for his expertise and attracting hunters worldwide.

In 2017, Harvey retired and sold his tags to the current co-owners Ed and Faryn Anderson, who work hard to continue his legacy.

Have the new owners made any changes to the hunting experience?

Harvey put his heart and soul into creating a Canadian whitetail outfitter that set the standard for quality whitetail hunting in Saskatchewan. Now, Ed and Faryn dedicate themselves to preserving his success, honouring his traditions, and making him proud. They’ve modernized and transformed the location into a real piece of paradise, completing a new lakefront lodge to elevate the comfort of your authentic wilderness journey.

Is Elusive a popular and well-known whitetail outfitter?

Our camp is a beloved spot and we're proud to say that we’ve built a reputation of being among the best Saskatchewan whitetail outfitters. That passion of our clients has led to receiving extensive public recognition.

When Harvey was at the helm of the company, he and his camp were featured across various forms of media, including in magazines, articles, books like Jeff Murray's "Moon Struck" and television shows like Bill Jordan's Realtree Outdoors the Cabela’s Outdoor Journal, and the Outdoor Channel's Hunting the World.

Ed and Faryn have continued that tradition. Since 2018, they’ve hosted several film shoots for various Sportsman Channel and Wild TV shows, including Descendants of the North, Born to Hunt, Wicked Tine, and The Edge.
